February 13, 2023: Raisa hints at how the discourse has affected her in an interview with Glamour. “Whatever, I’ll talk about it: I get snakes on my Instagram comments a lot that I’m, I don’t know, using certain people for fame,” she says. “If I had that in me, I would’ve been famous a long time ago. Those little things that get written about me, they’re hurtful. I do my best to try to ignore and avoid it. I deleted my Twitter because I couldn’t handle it.”
March 10, 2023: During an episode of the Apple TV+ documentary series Dear…, Gomez describes Raisa as her “best friend” while reflecting on their shared experience. “My best friend. Her name is Francia. She said, ‘No, I am absolutely getting tested,’” Gomez says, per People. “And within three days, she went to get tested, and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so so so lucky.”
Gomez also says she feels “in debt” to Raisa. “I understand that that doesn’t happen for a lot of people, and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it’s happened to me that way,” she said. “I will never ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia. The idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming.”
May 6, 2023: Raisa describes the graphic hate comments and threats she receives online to TMZ. This comes not long after Gomez had to ask fans to stop sending death threats to Hailey Bieber online following some other drama (which you can read about here.)
July 26, 2023: Gomez wishes Raisa a happy birthday on Instagram. “Happiest of birthdays to this special human being,” Gomez writes in the caption, tagging Raisa. “No matter where life takes us, I love you.” At this point, Raisa still doesn’t follow Gomez back on Instagram.
