Linda Evangelista had kind words for leading lady Salma Hayek in the supermodel’s September-issue cover interview with Vogue. Hayek is a stepmother and co-parent to Augie, the 16-year-old son Evangelista shares with François-Henri Pinault—the French businessman to whom Hayek has been married since 2009. And the two women seem to have forged a loving relationship through their blended families.
Apparently Hayek went out of her way to support Evangelista when the model fell ill over the holidays. “I was sick at Thanksgiving,” the model explained to Vogue. “And Salma got on the plane with her daughter, came here, and made Thanksgiving dinner.”
Evangelista recalled telling Hayek she wasn’t planning to celebrate, but the actor wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“I had told her that I wasn’t going to have Thanksgiving; I wasn’t feeling well,” the model explained. “And she said, ‘Oh yes you are. I am coming.’ And poof, she was here.”
Upon arriving, Hayek asked Evangelista what she wanted for dinner.
“It was a very eclectic wish list,” the model said. “I wanted her Mexican chicken with truffled potatoes. And she spent the day in the kitchen and cooked it herself. No help. The kids helped her at the end. She made a feast—a beautiful, beautiful meal.”
Linda Evangelista and Pinault dated for four months between 2005 and 2006. Evangelista gave birth in October 2006, but the father’s identity wasn’t confirmed until 2011, when the model filed court documents seeking child support. Hayek is also stepmother to Pinault’s two children from his first marriage, Francois and Mathilde, and has a child of her own with Pinault: her 15-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault.
