Like most people in 2016, Ivanka Trump says she lost some friends over the election of her father, President Donald Trump. However, her spin on the situation is that âacquaintancesâ who turned their backs were justâ¦âoverly emotional.â
The past and future first daughter recently went on the Him & Her podcast, from the Skinny Confidential, which is a beauty company, and spoke about the not-quite-pals she lost after her father was elected the first time nine years ago. (Please note Kim Kardashian does not number among those who stepped away from her.)
âI definitely had some acquaintances who, you know, their politics diverged wildly from [those] of my [father],â she said during the conversation, per Page Six, adding that those people âtook things personally or got overly emotional.â
Ivanka Trump, who moved her family to Washington, DC, so that she and her husband could work for her dad in the White House during his first term, also noted that she was thankful for the friends who stuck by her, noting that politics can create divisions in families. âI have friends who, they donât speak to half their family because the time was so emotional,â she said. Yeah, totally, thoseâ¦emotions!
âI never judge someone by their politics. So for me, itâs not a litmus test. So I would expect that back from you,â she continued, adding that she has friends of all ideological stripes. âI view conversations with those who disagree with me as, like, an opportunity to learnâ¦I may not agree with them, I may partially agree with themâ¦I feel like that makes you a full human beingâwhen you have people in your life who disagree.â Well, sure, who would judge someone actively supporting a man who has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 different women? Or whose racist and anti-immigrant remarksâwhich have been public since long before he sought officeâhave sown division, discord, and in some cases violence? Only an overly emotional silly goose, thatâs who!
