Brad Pitt Is ‘Aware and Upset’ About Daughter Shiloh’s Name Change, Sources Say

On her 18th birthday, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh filed to officially drop “Pitt” from her legal name. A few days later, on June 3, a rep for Pitt stated that he was “aware and upset” about Shiloh’s decision.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” a source told People. “The reminders that he’s lost his children [are], of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

“He’s still happy with Inés [de Ramón],” the source adds, referring to his girlfriend of two years, but the distance from his kids “pains him.”

A separate source tells the outlet, “He still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.”

Pitt and Jolie share six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15. They were together for 12 years before separating in 2016; their divorce is ongoing, pending a legal dispute over their vineyard, Château Miraval.

While Shiloh appears to be the only child to take legal action to have “Pitt” dropped from her name, both Vivienne and Zahara have dropped their dad’s last name in public settings. Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical she assisted Angelina in producing, and Zahara referred to herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” when pledging her sorority at Spelman College last fall.

Pitt rarely speaks about his six children, especially after Jolie filed for divorce following an altercation with Maddox, then 15, in 2016. Jolie also filed for sole physical custody of the children.

Since 2022, Brad Pitt has been linked to jewelry exec Inés de Ramón.
