But as modern as Ayo Edebiri’s Loewe suit may be, it also pays homage to an iconic ’90s look. “[My stylist] Danielle and I were reminded of Julia Roberts’s gray suit from the 1990 Golden Globes,” the actor told Vogue, referencing the standout Armani number.
Between the gray color, the oversized fit, the curly hair paired with a natural makeupâthere are quite a few parallels between the looks. But there is also a major difference: where Roberts wore a printed purple necktie, Edebiri picked an XXL, 14-carat gold feather necklace made to look like a necktie.

While Julia Roberts went home with one of the coveted trophies at the 47th Golden Globes in 1990, Ayo Edebiri went home empty-handed at the 82nd Golden Globes despite being nominated in the best actress in a television series, musical or comedy category. Obviously, though, she’s still a winner in our hearts.
